New York State

[The timing of this post is after the other 2 only because I was having difficulty at the beginning and had given up after some starts and stops.  This was really our first day.]

We’ve been talking about this trip for some time - actually since 2 years ago.  2 years ago, we did our western loop of the northern U.S. and Canada.  So this year we’re doing our eastern loop of the northern U.S. and Canada.  I wasn’t going to do a blog, and then thought more about it and decided I should since it would complete the “loops” for my sake, if for no one else.  It’s handy to look back and see the order in which we did things, where that was, etc.  So, here goes.

We left home Monday morning, June 4th after a terrific concert on Saturday night (June 2nd) and an elementary school reunion on June 3rd...in Orillia.  Yeah, it was a busy weekend.  Anyway, our goal was to get to the Binghampton area of NY state.  And here we are, all set up near Harpursville, NY.

Besides just making our way south, we wanted to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.  We were only about an hour from it, so we took the following day and made a point of going there.  Pretty part of the country here in the Adirondacks.  We made our way to Cooperstown and parked very close to the ball diamond behind the Hall of Fame.

And here we are.  I just got the upper part of the building as there were many people on the steps.

And here are those fateful steps that did Gerard in back in October of 2011.  About 5-10 minutes after he climbed these stairs, he sat down and could not get up again.  He ended up leaving via EMT stretcher.

We’re happy to say he left of his own volition this time.

His most prized photo was that of this “locker”, of course.  The Blue Jays’ one wasn’t as interesting.

When we were finished at the Hall of Fame, we wandered around Cooperstown a bit.  The town is at the base of Otswego Lake, one of the many finger lakes in upstate New York.  Very pretty spot.

Across from our RV site were these horseshoe pits.  Poor Gerard...no one to play with (and no shoes anyway).

The next day, we were off to Delaware, one of the 3 states we have not yet been to.  After all, this was the whole purpose of this trip into the U.S.
